A cut list optimizer that knows it's cutting lumber
Tell CutLedger the boards you have and the pieces you need. It works out which cuts come off which board, wastes as little wood as it can, and tells you what to buy at the yard.
Built for boards, not sheets
Most cutting optimizers are general linear-stock tools that happen to accept wood. CutLedger is built around how lumber actually works:
- The rack and the yard are different lists. The offcuts and boards already in your garage are one; the lengths your lumber yard sells are the other. The plan draws on both, so what comes out is a shopping list, and you can tell it which lengths to use up first.
- Knots and splits. Mark a flawed stretch of a board and the plan cuts around it.
- Miters. Angled ends on any piece, and matching miters can share one pass of the blade to save the waste triangle between them.
- Kerf, trim and allowances. Blade width, rough ends trimmed off, extra length for planing — all counted.
It shows its work
CutLedger runs several solvers on every project and prints every one of their scores next to the plan it picked, along with the fewest boards any plan could possibly use. You can see how close the plan is to perfect, and what a stronger solver would have saved. It re-plans as you type.
Nothing leaves your browser
Every solve runs on your own device. There is no account, and your project is never uploaded: it lives in the page's link, so sharing a plan is sharing a link, and bookmarking one saves it. Install it to your home screen and it works in a garage with no signal. Print the plan, or scan its QR code to carry it to the saw on your phone.

Pro adds the Advanced and Exact solvers, no limits on stock or cut sizes, and nest mitered cuts, cost tracking, diagram export and mark board defects. Pay once: $29 for a lifetime key, or $9 for 30 days. No subscription, and the pass doesn't renew. Lifetime is Pro for the life of CutLedger, including updates to Pro.
Questions
Does it do plywood or sheet goods?
No. CutLedger plans one-dimensional cuts — boards, trim, dowel, pipe, anything cut to length. For sheets you want a 2D optimizer.
Metric?
Yes: feet and inches, inches, millimetres or metres, to the nearest 1/16, 1/32 or 1/64 in imperial.
Do I need an account?
No, not even for Pro. A Pro key is pasted into the app and remembered on that device.
